A Reminder...... It's that time!! ....... Tuesday, Feb 2nd, will be the first Lake Shelbyville Muskie Club meeting of 2010. They will once again be held at Monical's Pizza (lower level). The business portion (and food?) will begin at 5:30pm, followed by the general session at 7:00pm Tuesday's featured speaker at the general session will be Lake Shelbyville fisheries biologist Mike Mounce. He is a long-time friend of LSMC, and will use data collected in 2009 to answer questions about our Lake Shelbyville muskie, and the status of the entire fishery. We are looking forward to an excellent presentation and a good turnout to kick off 2010.

LSMC Fall Tournament Results On Sunday, September 20, The Lake Shelbyville Muskie Club held its annual fall tournament on Lake Shelbyville. The tournament marked the beginning of the second half of the 2009 Illinois Muskie Tournament Trail. Fourteen teams went out to satisfy their hunger for catching muskie. After almost two weeks of sunny, dry, fall weather, the weather for the day was cloudy, damp, and cooler, with air and water temperatures both hovering in the middle seventies. A good number of the teams raised muskie, with seven being caught, measured, and released, to fight another day. All fish caught were done so, by casting assorted crank baits and spinner baits. The team of John Phillips and Tim Garner took first place by catching three fish (37”, 36.25”, 37.5”). Mike Witowski and Jim Beaty caught two muskie (34.5”, 36”) to earn second place. John Forsyth (39.5”) and Jim Kelly, took third place, edging out Tom Humrickhouse (38”) and Don Gibbs . LSMC member John Forsyth’s 39.5” beauty was the largest fish caught in the tournament. Participants, to a person, commented about how much they enjoyed the day, and how glad they were to be back in the hunt again.
