Lake Shelbyville Muskie Club Tournaments and Outings 2010
LSMC is looking forward to having a great year of tournaments and outings. The start and end times differ from event to event. For club outings a sign-up sheets, boat partners and tournament information are discussed at the monthly meeting just prior to the outing. If you cannot make the meeting prior to the outing, or need a partner to fish with, call Chris Jackson.
Guest are welcome to attend the outings, we do ask you to sign a waiver. To participate in the club outings contact Chris Jackson. If you plan to use your own boat it is necessary to send or give a copy of your boat insurance to: Chris Jackson, 121 West 2nd Street, Ramsey, IL 62080.
LSMC Outings for 2010
Outings on Lake Shelbyville will be held on June 5th, September 11th, and September 26th. The September 26th event will be a members only tournament to determine the LSMC Angler of the Year.
Outings at the Spillway will be held on March 20th and August 7th. The August 7th Outing follows the club breakfast meeting at the Farmhouse Family Restaurant near the Spillway.
LSMC Tournaments for 2010
LSMC will have two open tournaments this year. The Spring Tournament will be on May 23rd, and the Fall Tournament will be on September 19th. Both tournaments will start from the 9th Street Ramp at Lake Shelbyville and will run from 7:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. Exposing Youngsters to Muskie fever

May 22nd, 2010, The Lake Shelbyville Muskie Club hosted
the inaugural event on the new Youth Muskie Tournament Trail.
This Youth Trail, is affiliated with, and sponsored by the Illinois
Muskie Tournament Trail, with strong backing from Dick's
Sporting Goods of Springfield, IL., and the Rodney T. Miller
Triathlon, of Decatur, IL. All involved felt the day was a
definite success, look forward to the two upcoming dates, and to the
future of the YMTT.
The
sunny, warm weather and water levels a bit below summer pool on Lake
Shelbyville, made catching muskies a challenge for even experienced
muskie hunters, but the young participants and their adult guides
followed one of the main tenets of muskie fishing, which is "Patience
and Persistence". The youngest participant, Morgan Kelly of
Buffalo Grove, IL was rewarded with a 28" Muskie , and Dakota
Forsyth had a mid-thirties musky up to the boat, before it threw out
the hooks. All muskie fisherman know that feeling. Several other
Muskies were sighted, and a few bass, walleye, and even a carp were
hooked, making fishing interesting throughout the day.
The day
began at 7:00am with an instructional seminar on the basics of Muskie
fishing. The young fisherman then joined their adult guides /
supervisors for 6 hours of fishing for the elusive Muskie. Afterward
they returned to the pavilion for a well earned lunch, participation
plaques, and a bag of "goodies" to help them continue their
enjoyment for Muskie fishing. Really, the smiles and obvious
good spirits, said it all. It was a great time, and a great
day, enjoyed by all involved.

LAKE SHELBYVILLE MUSKIE CLUB OUTING TOURNAMENT RULES
1. Open to any member in good standing of the Lake Shelbyville Muskie Club.
2. This is an individual tournament and not a team tournament. Two people may fish together but it could also be a different two for each outing. Points will be kept individually.
3. All fishing must be done from a boat on Lake Shelbyville.
4. Starting and ending times must be adhered to as set by the LSMC Tournament Director. Special permission must be obtained in advance for any variance in starting or ending times.
5. Measuring and reporting caught fish is on the honor system. A witness as to the length would be preferred but not mandated.
6. Tournament Points are awarded as follows:
(a) 10 points awarded individually for fishing each outing (maximum 70
Points awarded in this manner)
(b) Measuring all 30’ and above fish with 5 points for each 30” fish and
one additional point for each inch over 30”. For example a 34”
Muskie would be worth (5 points for 30” fish and 4 additional points
equals 9 points for that particular fish).
7. Tabulation of points to be done by Tournament Chairperson or his
designated tabulator.
